Storage of 3D terrain between floor joists

People usually end up taking up significant amounts of space as they build up their inventory of terrain pieces for different games and settings (for me: 25/28mm fantasy and 15mm WWII). That is unless you find a few tricks for efficient storage! I decided to make use of my basement ceiling joists. I made a few shelves by nailing a few 1″x3″ planks under joists. It works pretty good. I don’t know what I will do when I decide to finish my basement and put ceiling tiles though…

Combat Commander: Europe (GMT)

I played Combat Commander: Europe for the first time this weekend. I will definitely buy this game and its expansions! You can read a nice review on BoardGameGeek that covers most of what I think about the game after one try.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/183436

In short:

  • Well-organized rulebook
  • Nice, thick counters
  • Battlefield chaos is awesome: do what you can with what you have now!
  • Great tactical play based on your hand of cards
  • Each nation’s characteristics are implemented in their Nation’s deck
  • Excellent replayability
  • Variety of maps

Ptolus Campaign underway

The campaign is reaching its 4th IRL night and its one week of IG time. The players are now hooked on Ptolus! It’s easy as it is the more detailed city setting I have ever played with. Kudos to Monte Cook! I also want to mention the incredible job done by Skeleton Key Games‘ maps creator, Ed Bourelle. I use a few of his cartographic material. Last night we played “Trouble with Goblins” with maps printed and glued on cardboard in the same way I prepared my modular 2D map tiles. They are great-looking. My players really enjoyed them. Add a few 3D props (unpainted unfortunately for now) and you get everything you need for a rewarding encounter - even for Scar the litorian who was taken out of action again (3rd night in a row!) [Evil DM Grin].

Mini painting for Ptolus campaign (litorian & half-elf)

Wow! Almost one month since last post.

I started my Ptolus Campaign using D&D 3.5 rules on December 23rd 2007. I will paint one miniature for each player character involved (4 so far, 1 more joining soon). I was not able to find a miniature for Scar, the litorian (lion men). I ended up using a large barbarian with long hair. I started painting it using a lion skin/hairs scheme (i.e. yellowish brown). I also almost finished Atalycus, an half-elf rogue. See pictures below.
