Kilimangaro (UK/US)
Global (Germany)
Winner: Global with only a Mauser Kar lost. Kilimangaro lost all his units! One Mauser took out the Spitfire on the first round. The Stuka took out the UK armor.
I made them along my first set of AAM hills. Quick tutorial:
These pictures were on my old website. A fellow gamer asked me to put them up on the blog to see the different sets of 3D terrain I made for Axis & Allies miniatures. This is the first set of Hills / Mountains I made for the game.
We played a quick game of AAM tonight after a great session of Spacemaster. I was the Soviets (60 points) defending a city from the Germans (90 points). Kilimangaro got an all-armor build: Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar, Sd Kfz 222, and a JAGDTIGER! I went for mix of infantry & armor: T34/76, BA-10M, Fanatical Sniper, 4 Mosin-Nagant. Well, my sniper was useless (no infantry to shoot at!) and my Mosin were stuck without any commander thus unable to move into Close Assault. I lost but I got his Brummbar and 222 destroyed. The Jagdtiger was just too powerful… Which makes me say again that strong tanks dominate the game most of the time. This is unfortunate because infantry is very important. I also like to play games where it is hard to tell the winner ahead of time! I looked on the AAM forum and found an interesting house rule used by Dr.Cornelius
House rule (quoted from AAM board):
The Specialization problem is why my group requires that every army field both armor and infantry- and no more than 70% of either. Before the 70/30 house rule, the game was dominated by all-armor builds, and to a lesser extent Parabomb/SS. We also find 150 points to be much more interesting than 100 points.
I will adapt my Scenarios, years & conditions sheet to playtest this rule.
